101 in 1001 Challenge- Master List

The Mission:
Complete 101 preset tasks in a period of 1001 days.

The Criteria:
Tasks must be specific (ie. no ambiguity in the wording) with a result that is either measurable or clearly defined. Tasks must also be realistic and stretching (ie. represent some amount of work on my part).

Why 1001 Days?

Many people have created lists in the past – frequently simple goals such as New Year’s resolutions. The key to beating procrastination is to set a deadline that is realistic. 1001 Days (about 2.75 years) is a better period of time than a year, because it allows you several seasons to complete the tasks, which is better for organising and timing some tasks such as overseas trips or outdoor activities.

The Tasks

Personal (Completed 4.5/15)

  1. apply to graduate studies of some sort (or more schooling)
  2. Get a job in the scientific field
  3. Blog — get posts going at least once a week (modified…lol)
  4. Buy a sequins dress and wear it out in public
  5. Buy an article of clothing (ie. Shirt, dress, pants) from a local artist/designer
  6. Buy jewelry from a local TO designer
  7. Go to the spa for a full day
  8. Send a secret to Post secret
  9. Leave 2 additional secrets in Post secret books in chapters
  10. Participate in NaNoBloMo
  11. Keep a potted plant living for at least 6 months +
  12. Wear my bathing suit confidently (no shorts over the bottoms) in public 
  13. Stop using the word “sorry” when not needed (double points if I figure this out without a shock collar) (0.5)
  14. Kiss in the rain.
  15. Buy myself something that comes in a blue box with a white ribbon

Healthy Living (Completed 6.5/12)

  1. Read 3 books/magazines on yoga principles and/ or stress management (3/3)
  2. Take a spinning class
  3. Take a term of yoga classes
  4. Be able to stay in plank position for 2 minutes without shaking (and without my arms feeling like spaghetti) (0.5)
  5. Maintain weight at 120-125 ish lbs (0.5)
  6. Get into a routine where I go to the gym consistently (0.5)
  7. Stretch until I can do the splits again (side splits)
  8. Go on a hike in the great outdoors
  9. try snowboarding or cross country skiing
  10. Skate on the Rideau canal in Ottawa
  11. Take a workshop at Flirty Girl Fitness
  12. Spend a whole day in bed/ in pjs, not because of sickness or sleep deprivation.
  13. Go salsas dancing.
  14. Get a strike bowling 10 pin.

Crafty (Completed 3/12)

  1. Get yarn stash down to 2 hatboxes (not including wips)
  2. Finish the scrapbooks I have started or planned out
  3. Finish sock yarn blanket
  4. Design and knit 3 Items (1/3)
  5. Buy 5 things off of Etsy (0/5)
  6. Knit socks for a male friend
  7. Sew a dress I will actually wear out in public
  8. Frame the finished cross stitches that are sitting in my dresser. (0/2)
  9. Finish all the cross stitch kits that I have. (0/2)
  10. Try a craft that I have never tried before and could not learn in front of my computer. (ie. Pottery, weaving, silversmith-ing)
  11. Create an inspirational book for myself- save articles, pictures, quotes, collages that make me happy and inspire me in any way shape or form.
  12. Send all the really ugly FOs sitting in my bin to the frog pond and if I don’t like the end product of what I am knitting I have to rip back and re-knit it.

Organizational (Completed 4/6)

  1. Print all pictures immediately after taking them of important moments of my life.
  2. Clean out my underwear drawer and get rid of anything questionable.
  3. Get rid of all of my “fat” clothes or get them altered
  4. Keep track of all finances and don’t let the bills pile up.
  5. Keep desk clean for a full month.
  6. Redecorate my room in my parent’s house.

Travel (Completed 4/8)

  1. See New York
  2. See a show on Broadway
  3. Visit western Canada
  4. Visit Mere is St. Kitts
  5. Travel somewhere overnight by train
  6. Go to Italy
  7. Do a hippo tour of TO
  8. Go on a trip spontaneously- could be a day trip or overnight. No planning ahead of time allowed.

Food (0.5/10)

  1. Make veggie sushi (so I can actually try it)
  2. Learn how to bartend and make most classic cocktails including a classic martini
  3. Go on a wine tour
  4. Master making chocolate truffles by hand (0.5 completed)
  5. Learn proper cake decorating techniques including fondant
  6. Learn how to make gnocchi from my grandmother
  7. Make bread by hand. Make it a constant thing I do.
  8. Attempt to make cannoli by hand
  9. Put together a recipe booklet of all my favourites
  10. make 4 different vegan desserts (1/4)

Entertainment (Completed 5/16)

  1. Watch AMI top 100 movies
  2. Go to the ROM
  3. Go to the BataShoeMuseum
  4. Go to the Science Centre
  5. See the nutcracker on stage
  6. See an independent art show or installation
  7. Attend a fashion show at TO fashion week
  8. Have a cupcake and cocktail party
  9. Go to a concert of a non- mainstream artist
  10. Watch the full BBC version of Pride and Prejudice
  11. Go to a Jazz Festival
  12. Go to a casino and actually put money in one of the slot machines
  13. Have a movie marathon where a whole set of movies is watched in a row (ie a trilogy)
  14. Go to see the Santa Clause Parade
  15. Watch a live professional soccer game
  16. Get a membership to the Bloor Cinema

Learning  (Completed 3.5/12)

  1. Make it through all my Italian beginner cds.
  2. Order the intermediate ones after the beginner ones are finished (ok I jumped the gun a little) (0.5 for Completion)
  3. Read the bible- all of it
  4. Read 1 book every 2 months (at least)
  5. Blog reviews of the ones I really love or really hate (edit).
  6. Take a beginner French class
  7. Read the Italian magazines I bought instead of looking at the pretty pictures
  8. Read 5 biographies of people I admire
  9. Go to a Mars Lecture
  10. Read the origin of species by Darwin and the Double Helix by James Watson
  11. Attempt to read a graphic novel of some sort
  12. Figure out all the features of my digital camera and learn how to play with them to take a really great picture. 

Other (Completed 3/8)

  3. Volunteer for a cause that I find worthy.
  4. Keep in touch with my close friends that have moved away at least once every two months
  5. Update my photo frames with current pictures

  7. Do at least three things that would be considered out of character (3/3)
  8. Teach myself to see the positive in every situation and identify what makes me happy. By the end of the 1001 days I should be able to write it down.
